TELL ME MORE
In matchday three of the Afcon qualifiers, a clash between Nigeria and Libya took place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
Coming into the game interim coach Augustine Eguavoen was missing his talisman Victor Osimhen.
The opening stanza of the game did not offer any excitement as the visitor’s plan was visible and just to sit, absorb the pressure, and do nothing. The Super Eagles frustration grew as they kept pushing for the opener but keeper Murad Al Wuheesh had to make some crucial saves to keep the home side at bay.
As much as the game was not pleasing to the eye, chances were available for the likes of Alex Ibobi, William Troost-Ekong and Ademola Lookman but they were wasteful and could not get it past the Mediterranean Knights shot-stopper.
Seeing that he is dominating the game but cannot break the last line of defence, Eguavoen made a couple of changes to bolster his attack with the likes of Samuel Chikwueze, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. With the game seeming to end in a goalless draw, the 23-year-old Lazio midfielder latched on to a pass to grab the late winner for the Super Eagles and keep their Moroccan dream alive with a 1-0 win.

THE MVP
It has to be Fisayo Dele-Bashiru who came in and made a huge impact. The SS Lazio starlet had been on the field for twelve minutes and netted the winner after some great work by Moses Simon on the left.

Libya FA
THE BIG LOSER
It has to be the Libyan team after ensuring that they go to Uyo to defend and not offer anything in terms of playing and taking the game to the home side, they conceded with four minutes of regulation left.

For Nigeria, the goal is clear to go to Libya on October 15 and get another three points which would take their tally to ten points.
Libya, on the other hand, are going back to the drawing board having had a dismal campaign – collecting only one point after three games.
