4.4 magnitude earthquake strikes near Roatan

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale occurred on the night of Friday, October 4, near Roatán , in the Bay Islands, an insular area of Honduras , reported the National Center for Atmospheric, Oceanographic and Seismic Studies (Cenaos).
According to the Cenaos report, the quake occurred at 10:39 p.m., at a distance of 43 kilometers northeast of Roatan, with a depth of 11 kilometers. The epicenter of the movement was not specified.
The earthquake reference points are 38.26 kilometers northwest of Guanaja , in the Bay Islands, 114.34 kilometers northeast of La Ceiba, Atlántida , and 89.26 kilometers north and northwest of Trujillo, Colón.
The Roatan Fire Department conducted preliminary monitoring and no perceptions of movement by the population were reported, Cenaos added.
So far, no material damage has been reported as a result of the earthquake.
