A handful of seconds, a flash of lightning… the blink of an eyelash and total oblivion. In 2007, while hiking with her partner, Barbara Bolick suddenly vanished into thin air.
The story takes place 17 years ago, near the Bear Creek lookout in Montana, USA. Jim Ramaker, Barbara Bolick’s partner, blinked and his wife disappeared without a trace. Today, and for years, the police are convinced that Jim had nothing to do with the mysterious disappearance. “They were only a short distance apart. Yet seconds later, he looks back and she’s gone,” historian Jim Harmon pointed out. “It’s just unbelievable. How is that possible? How was she not just a few steps down the hill? It’s an absolute mystery.”
In 2023, the Montana authorities contacted local residents once again, asking them to let them know if they remembered any more details about the event. No one came forward. To this day, the investigation is still ongoing…
There’s no question of giving up as the authorities continue the search, despite the cost. “Is it worth it? Of course it’s worth it. Our job is to uncover the truth and hold people accountable for any crime, especially when there’s a missing person,” said Montana District Attorney Jesse Laslovich.
