Following a fight between some military troops and traders on Saturday, there were concerns at the well-known Banex Plaza in Wuse, Abuja.
A throng was seen attacking some soldiers in a video that our correspondent saw in the marketplaces where most people buy electronic devices and cell phones.
The uniformed soldiers were beaten, kicked, and slapped by the thugs who broke into groups.
Some traders had closed for the day and fled home to apparently avoid being caught up in a reprisal attack.
A trader who spoke on the condition of anonymity said trouble began after an argument between the soldiers and some traders over the alleged sale of a faulty phone.
However, hours after the assault, armed soldiers invaded the market chasing people in different directions.
