More than 24 hours after the narco-video in which his brother appears was released, former President Zelaya broke his silence.
Former Honduran President (2006-2009), Manuel Zelaya Rosales, once again denied having received money from drug trafficking after a narco-video was released in which the former Secretary of the National Congress and brother of ‘Mel’, Carlos Zelaya, appears negotiating with drug traffickers and assuring that ‘El Comandante’, as Zelaya Rosales is known, would receive part of the money.
Through a post on his X account, Zelaya also said that he could not answer for the “abominable” acts of a relative in a clear allusion to his brother.
“I have not committed any crimes or made money from drug trafficking in my 72 years of life (…) Nor can I answer for the abominable conduct of another person, even if they are a family member,” he wrote.
The coordinator of Libre also asserted that he will not change his “commitment to socialism” and again accused the United States of wanting to intervene in Honduras.
Zelaya had remained silent since yesterday, September 3, when the video was published in which his brother does business with drug traffickers.
Some of the protagonists of the video are: Carlos ‘El Negro’ Lobo, Ramón Matta Waldurraga, Devís and Javier Rivera Maradiaga and Héctor Fernández Rosa, alias ‘Don H’, among others.
