While Jane briefly reprised her role through voice cameos in October and November 2020, she decided to explore new opportunities. Reflecting on her departure, Jane acknowledged the demanding schedule of soap opera acting and expressed a desire to engage in different pursuits.
Jane explained, “It is long, long days, and then you don’t have time in the evenings because you have lines to learn for the next day. My mum died a couple of years ago, so it does make you think a lot about the big things in life.” Emmerdale did not leave the door open for a potential return, making Lisa’s exit final.
In the years since leaving the soap, Jane Cox has embraced a variety of endeavors. She pursued an art history degree over the past decade and even tried her hand at writing a book. However, one notable shift in her career has been her exploration of alternative health therapy, specifically reflexology.
In 2019, Jane shared her decision to study reflexology in an interview with Inside Soap, stating, “Well, I wanted to slow down a bit, and I’m currently doing a course in reflexology. I’m available for acting roles, but at the moment I’m just chilling – which is a luxury for me.” As she enjoys this new chapter, Jane continues to remain open to acting opportunities while exploring a more relaxed pace of life.
