Volodymyr Zelensky says North Korea is preparing to send 10,000 troops to fight alongside Russian armed forces in Ukraine.
Speculation about North Korea’s official involvement has been growing this week, with the Ukrainian leader revealing on Thursday that Pyongyang is considering training and deploying thousands of troops to Ukraine.
“We know that North Korea is about to send 10,000 troops to fight against us ,” he said at a news conference in Brussels.
According to military intelligence, North Korean soldiers are already present in the territories occupied by Russia, although their exact number remains unknown, as Volodymyr Zelensky explains.
He warned that North Korea’s involvement represented a “first step towards a world war.”
Moscow and Pyongyang have strengthened their ties in recent months, with the two countries signing a mutual defense pact. North Korea has also supplied its ally with ammunition and shells.
