Álvaro Alejandro Eder Garcés, born in Washington DC on December 1, 1975, is a Colombian politician with Latvian and British roots. He currently serves as Mayor of Cali, Colombia for the period 2024-2027.
His academic background includes specializations in International Security Policies and Conflict Resolution, and he was previously director of the Colombian Agency for Reintegration.
Eder completed his secondary education at Colegio Bolívar and later graduated in International Relations and Philosophy from Hamilton College.
In 2015, Eder married Taliana Vargas , a model and actress, in Palmira, Valle del Cauca. Together they have two children and their wedding was held at the Manuelita Sugar Mill, owned by the family.
