Almost half of the 216 people who died in the storm in Valencia were at least 70 years old
According to the findings, of the total number of people who have died so far, 104 were aged 70 or over, of whom 15 were in their nineties.

Nearly half of the 216 fatalities recorded so far in the storm in Valencia (eastern Spain) on 29 October were at least 70 years old, and 9 were minors, according to an official report from the Data Integration Centre made public by the Valencian High Court of Justice.
Of the total number of deceased, 131 were men and 85 were women, 190 were of Spanish nationality and another 26 had 11 different nationalities.
The Data Integration Centre (CID), set up to deal with the torrential rains of 16 days ago and the subsequent floods that affected the province of Valencia on 29 October, has carried out a detailed analysis of the 216 fatalities recorded so far in this catastrophe.
According to their findings, of the total number of people who have died so far, 104 were aged 70 or over, of whom 15 were in their nineties, while nine were minors, of whom seven were under 11 years old and two were between 11 and 17.
A total of 52 people were over 80 years old; 37 were between 70 and 80; 33 were between 60 and 70; 30 were between 50 and 60; 16 were between 40 and 50; 6 were between 30 and 40, and 10 were between 20 and 30.
Of the 26 foreign people who have lost their lives in this dana, the majority are from Romania (9), but there are also victims from Morocco (4), China (4), United Kingdom (2), Ecuador (1), Venezuela (1), Ukraine (1), Holland (1), Tunisia (1), Colombia (1) and Paraguay (1).
