A U.S. passenger plane scheduled to land in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, had to be rerouted after being fired upon from the ground.

The aircraft, operated by the low-cost airline Spirit Airlines, was forced to land in the Dominican Republic. The airline reported that a flight attendant was injured in the incident. According to the Miami Herald, the plane was struck as it came in for landing.

In a video shared on social media, bullet holes are visible on the aircraft’s fuselage.

Departing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the plane underwent an inspection in the Dominican Republic, which confirmed evidence of damage consistent with gunfire, according to Spirit Airlines.

The airline has announced a suspension of flights to Haiti, an island plagued by gang violence.

Spirit Airlines had already suspended its flights to Haiti last October following a surge in violence, as gangs in the capital had previously targeted aircraft in the weeks prior.
