Arsenal have picked up a number of injuries at the start of this season. Saka sustained a hamstring problem while representing England in the Nations League while Odegaard has not played for the Gunners since late August after picking up an ankle issue while away with Norway.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Arteta responded when asked about Saka: “It is not a serious injury. He is evolving really well. He has done a few things in the last two days… we are hopeful. We have a training session this afternoon, he did some bits yesterday, let’s see if he can make it on time.”
While Arteta revealed that Saka could return for the next game against Bournemouth, he revealed that Odegaard is not yet ready. Arteta said: “[Odegaard is] in that later stage of rehab, where he is at the moment, he needs to clear some markers, he needs to be comfortable, especially with the ball. Next week will be crucial to understand how close he is.”
When questioned whether the Arsenal captain will return before the November international break, he said: “Yes.”
The Gunners will take on Bournemouth on Saturday, October 19 as they look to catch up to Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League standings.
