At least nine people have been killed and nearly a hundred injured on Wednesday in an intense day of Israeli bombings that have been concentrated especially in southern Lebanon , where Israel has ordered the evacuation of dozens of towns in recent weeks.

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said that at least six people were killed and 43 others were injured in Nabatieh, one of the worst-hit cities in southern Lebanon, where this morning the Israeli air force carried out more than a dozen airstrikes that devastated different parts of the municipality.

According to the Lebanese National News Agency (ANN), the attacks hit several municipal offices, residential buildings and a library, which was completely destroyed, while huge columns of smoke rose from about fifteen points in the city.

The Lebanese ministry said three people were killed and 54 wounded in the town of Qana, south of Nabatieh, where Israeli air forces also launched an unprecedented number of airstrikes against the symbolic town.

More than 100 people were killed in 1996 in the village of Qana during the so-called “Operation Grapes of Wrath”, launched by Israel against Lebanon and during which the Jewish State’s attacks targeted a displaced persons camp housing some 800 people under the protection of the United Nations.

Four members of the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon were also injured in the Israeli attack.

Since the start of the bombing campaign in late September, Israel has been attacking around 20 towns in different parts of Lebanon every day, according to figures provided by the Lebanese government, which estimates that the Israeli army launches around 100 “attacks” by air, sea and land every day.

More than 2,300 people have been killed since violence between Israel and the Shiite group Hezbollah erupted on October 8, 2023, but the vast majority of these deaths have occurred since September 17, according to Lebanese authorities.
