BlocBoy JB has been arrested on gun and drug charges after police officers found him asleep behind the wheel of his car.
According to WREG News Channel 3, the Tennessee Highway Patrol found the Memphis rapper early Tuesday morning (October 1) unconscious in his car with his foot on the brake and a gun in his lap.
BlocBoy’s Mazda was allegedly found stopped at an intersection along North Germantown, with the rapper also in possession of marijuana when police searched the car.
He has subsequently been charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and several other charges such as driving with a revoked license and obstructing a highway.
BlocBoy (real name James Lee Baker) was booked into Shelby County Jail on a $7,500 bond and has had his driver’s license revoked. He has yet to comment on the charges.
This is not the first time that the “Look Alive” hitmaker has had issues with the law.
In 2019, he was arrested on felony drug and gun charges, but according to his attorney he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Just hours after his arrest, BlocBoy JB performed live and commented during the show: “I ain’t going to lie, I just got out of jail.”
However, he was later convicted and spent just one day in prison.
BlocBoy was also involved in a legal dispute with Fortnite creator Epic Games for allegedly using a dance from his “Shoot” video without his permission.
The rapper sued for misappropriating the likeness and intellectual property regarding the dance that he does in his music video.
He said in a press release: “I just don’t think it’s fair what Epic is doing. I started the dance and made it popular through my music. Epic didn’t ask me if they could put it in Fortnite.”
The rapper also wrote on social media: “EveryTime Somebody Does My Dance Dey Give Credit To @FortniteGame But Dey Ain’t Create Nothing But Da Game So Basically Dey Takin Money And Credit For My Shit Dats Crazy.”
Epic Games have never commented on the lawsuit, which was filed in January 2019 and it is not known if a resolution was found between the two parties.
