Strasbourg prosecutors report that Lina’s lifeless body was found Wednesday in a watercourse in a wooded and remote area in Nevers, France. That is more than 400 kilometers from Plaine, the spot where the prime suspect’s car was found a day after Lina’s disappearance.
15-year-old Lina’s DNA was previously found on a rope found in the main suspect’s car. Several weeks ago, DNA traces of the missing girl were found in the car of her alleged kidnapper, who allegedly committed suicide after his car was impounded. Now it is also clear exactly where the DNA was found.
Prosecutors reported that Lina’s DNA was found on a rope found in the car, indicating that the girl was tied up at some point. “DNA residue was also found on the back seat and on the seat belt of the middle rear seat. Her bag was in the glove box,” it read. “The perpetrator’s DNA was also found, but there were no traces of blood.”
15-year-old Lina disappeared on Sept. 23 while on foot en route from her home to the train station in Saint-Blaise-la-Roche, in the French Vosges Mountains. She was supposed to take the train there to Strasbourg to visit her boyfriend Tao (19), but never arrived there. The boyfriend had been questioned several times by the police, but to no avail.
The investigation revealed that the girl was probably taken away in a car. A witness claimed that he saw her in a gray car on the day of the disappearance and that she even waved at him. Another teenage girl then stepped up to police again and stated that she felt she was followed by someone in a gray car at the time. Police have now been able to determine the identity of this driver.
Violent junkie
The investigation gained momentum with the identification of a suspect, a man police officers and magistrates believe to be Lina’s abductor. The suspected driver of the vehicle allegedly committed suicide after his car was impounded and DNA traces of Lina were found in the vehicle, according to French media. That suspect is Samuel G.
Farewell letter found
Samuel G. committed suicide two months ago. He had already been prosecuted in the past for two brutal thefts in Besançon and had confided to a psychiatrist that he was “freaking out.” He also struggled with drug and alcohol addictions. The man, who was divorced and had two sons, reportedly left several goodbye letters, reports “DH. “I have lost my honor, my dignity and my humanity, I have to leave. I can’t control myself, it’s too fast. I am suffering too much, it is better this way,” were his last words.
