A wedding celebration in Pakistan turned into a scene of devastation when a bus carrying 28 occupants, including the newlywed couple, plunged into a river.
The accident occurred around midnight on Tuesday while the bus was travelling from Gilgit-Baltistan to a village in Punjab province.
According to local media reports, the group was heading to a wedding celebration when they plunged into the Indus River after losing control on a bridge.
Due to the magnitude of the tragedy, all occupants, including the groom, died ; only the newlywed survived , as shown in a video posted on social media.
The Punjab ruler told EFE that the bus “plunged into the river due to excessive speed ,” while Sher Khan, superintendent of the Diamer district, attributed the disaster to the ” negligence of the driver .”
So far, 18 of the 27 dead have been recovered , with emergency crews working hard to locate the remaining victims.
