After a momentary setback against Osasuna in La Liga last weekend, Barcelona staged a strong comeback in the Champions League as they thrashed Swiss club Young Boys 5-0 on Tuesday. Robert Lewandowski netted a brace while Raphinha and Inigo Martinez scored a goal each. Mohamed Ali Camara’s late own goal then sealed a comprehensive win for the Catalan giants.

      THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lamine Yamal had yet another impressive outing as he provided the assist for Raphinha’s strike. With 15 minutes still left on the clock, manager Hansi Flick decided to substitute the young wonderkid as he brought in Frenkie de Jong. The Spain international appeared frustrated as he left the pitch to make way for the Dutch midfielder.

      • WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

Yamal’s on-field tantrums did not go down well with former Blaugrana star Jonathan Soriano who criticised the youngster and advised him to remain calm on the pitch.

Speaking to 3cat, Soriano said, “I don’t like the ‘faces’. And even less in a 17-year-old boy. I understand that he wants to score goals and be important. But they don’t touch the ‘faces’. Today was a day when everything was cute. It’s a sign that he wants more, but sometimes the young players have to be tamed a bit and told to ‘calm down.'”

Flick’s side, who continue to remain at the top of the league table, will be back in action in La Liga on Sunday as they take Alaves in an away fixture.
