Former Secretary of the National Congress, Carlos Zelaya, was seen this Sunday with the mayor of Catacamas, Marco Ramiro Lobo.
Zelaya participated in a political meeting in the village of Cayo Blanco, in the municipality of Juticalpa, Olancho.
This meeting was part of an activity of the June 28 Movement , one of the most influential currents within the Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre).
Marco Ramiro Lobo , current mayor of Catacamas, has expressed his intention to run for deputy for the department of Olancho in the upcoming elections, representing the June 28 Movement.
His alliance with leading figures in the party seeks to strengthen his position and gain greater support from the party base in the region.
Following the release of the video, Carlos Zelaya resigned from his position as secretary of the National Congress.
This is his first political act with Libre since the video was released in which he is seen meeting with Honduran drug traffickers to finance Libre’s campaign in the 2013 elections.
Despite the controversy, he remains coordinator of the June 28 Movement, although his niece and deputy , Xiomara Hortensia Zelaya , has been asked to replace him.
