Many people are unaware of the story of Cristina Almeida , who is a renowned lawyer in Spain, however, her private life has been full of curiosity, so many people wonder how many children she has and what happened in the famous case of “La Matanza de Atocha”.

Cristina Almeida is known to have been married twice and had many affairs, but she never had children . The lawyer is currently 80 years old and lives in Madrid, although she has been hospitalized for several months due to back problems.

Cristina Almeida was born on July 24, 1944, in Badajoz, Spain. Her father is Manuel Almeida Segura, who was imprisoned at the beginning of the Civil War, then joined the national army as a war correspondent, (he died in 1999). Her mother is Carmen Castro Carrasco (she died in Madrid, on March 26, 2017).

At the age of 11, Cristina Almeida completed her secondary education at a religious school and studied law at the Universidad Central de Madrid. In 1966 she joined the Madrid Bar Association, where she practiced law.

She opened a professional office in 1967 and stood out as a labor lawyer defending the rights of workers and political prisoners before the courts.

The Atocha Massacre Case

On January 24, 1977, a group of far-right extremists broke into a Labor law firm on Atocha Street and murdered five lawyers working at the firm.

His companions Alejandro Ruiz-Huerta, Luis Ramos, Dolores González and Miguel Sarabia were seriously injured. The massacre had a great social impact at the time, which is why it was named “The Atocha Massacre”.

Did Cristina Almeida survive?

Cristina Almeida and Manuela Carmena worked in the same office where the murder took place, however, they were saved from being victims of the massacre, since they were not in the office at the time and it is rumored that the mayor of Madrid was saved by a few minutes. 

Currently, Cristina Almeida has been hospitalized for more than 5 months due to the after-effects of a delicate back operation she had to undergo. This hospital is called Ramón y Cajal in Madrid .
