Eda Luna, founder of the Domestic Workers Movement of Honduras, condemned this Tuesday the murder of a domestic worker on October 28 inside a home on 25th Street in the Montefresco neighborhood of San Pedro Sula , Cortés, northern Honduras.
He also strongly urged the authorities to do justice in this and many other cases.
“We can only demand justice for this incident and that the corresponding measures be taken and not just wait for these femicides to occur (…) By not having legal recognition, we are prone to all this type of violence that exists both inside and outside of work,” she said on TSi’s Noticieros Hoy Mismo.
Luna also highlighted the need for the Honduran state to recognize the work of domestic workers and grant them labor rights.
The founder of the movement regretted that this is not the only case and that most remain unpunished “because they are not interested” in resolving them.
