Gisèle Pélicot was a victim of this practice for almost ten years, unaware of what was happening while she was under the influence of the drugs her husband gave her in her food.

The other 50 defendants , who face sentences of up to 20 years in prison, have given different versions of the events. Some say they were unaware of the victim’s drug use and thought it was a consensual act.

In September 2020, Dominique Pélicot, then 67 years old, was arrested in a supermarket in Carpentras after filming several female customers’ crotches upskirts without their consent.
