LOS ANGELES, CA –
Eminem, DJ Quik, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent were among the many people who showed up to the ceremony unveiling Dr. Dre‘s long-overdue star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
on Tuesday (March 19), some of Hip Hop’s biggest names pulled up to Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles to pay their respects to the N.W.A veteran as he received the honor.
Additionally, Jimmy Iovine was also present for the event.
“Dr. Dre is the greatest ever,” he said. “In fact, Billboard just named him the greatest hip-hop producer of all time! And I heard some of the other music he’s making right now — he’s coming for other genres.
“Dre is the greatest partner, friend, ally you could possibly have. For all you people out there that are aspiring to get into entertainment, when you go to bed tonight, pray you meet a Dr. Dre.”
In a press release announcing the above honor, it was revealed that Dr. Dre’s star was fittingly placed right next to Snoop Dogg’s.
“Dr. Dre’s contributions to the music industry are undeniable and have left an indelible mark on popular culture,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “As a producer, rapper, and entrepreneur, Dr. Dre has continuously pushed boundaries and set new standards for excellence.
“It is with great pride that we honor his incredible career and extraordinary impact by awarding him a star on the Walk of Fame.”
She continued: “Dr. Dre’s star will serve as a lasting symbol of his immense talent and enduring legacy in the world of music. What is special regarding the location chosen for Dr. Dre’s star is that it will be next to the star of his long-time friend Snoop Dogg!”
In 2018, Snoop Dogg was also honored with his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Long Beach native, who celebrated the honor almost 25 years to the day after the release of his groundbreaking debut album, Doggystyle, was introduced by Dr. Dre, Quincy Jones and Jimmy Kimmel.
In addition to his family, he was surrounded by a number of people who helped him on his path to success, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Pharrell Williams, Battlecat, Terrace Martin, Jeannie Buss, DJ Pooh, Big Boy, Bishop Don “Magic” Juan, John Singleton, Jimmy Kimmel and Warren G.
