Kane broke a host of records in a stunning debut season in Germany but his infamous trophy curse continued as Bayern’s 11-year reign as Bundesliga champions came to an end and they were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid in a dramatic semi-final tie.
He has started this season in sensational form again, scoring nine goals in just five games – including four in Bayern’s 9-2 Champions League thrashing of Dinamo Zagreb this week.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Kane was desperate to join Manchester City in 2021 although the move never materialised due to Tottenham’s high asking price. Had he chosen to stay at Spurs for one more year and ran down his contract rather than join Bayern, he could have moved to City – or any other team – on a free transfer. Manchester United also showed strong interest in signing Kane in the summer of 2023, but he proved to be out of their budget.

WHAT AGUERO SAID
“I think the decisions of players need to be respected. Kane made a call to join the Bundesliga, and if it was right for him then, then it was the right thing to do,” Aguero told GOAL, via Stake.com.

Kane overtook Aguero on his way to becoming the second all-time top goalscorer in Premier League history. He struck 213 times for Spurs, leaving him 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s record of 260. Aguero is number five on the list with 184 goals, however he does hold the record for the most Premier League hat-tricks, with 12.

WHAT NEXT FOR KANE?
Kane will look to continue his red-hot start to the season when Vincent Kompany’s side travel to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The England captain bagged a hat-trick in his last league outing – a 6-1 win over Holstein Kiel – as Bayern made it three straight victories to begin the new campaign.
