Amorim, who won his final game as Sporting boss 4-2 and was treated to an emotional farewell by players and fans, has said of the challenge that he is taking on: “I feel ready for the new challenge. I’m not naive, I know it’s going to be very different, very difficult. I’m at peace now, I can focus on my new job and I’m looking forward to starting. I know it will be difficult to reproduce what I have here anywhere else, but there are other places with different exposure and pressure.”
United have been working under interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has overseen a four-game unbeaten run across Premier League, Carabao Cup and Europa League competition – with the Red Devils sat 13th in the English top-flight table.
