Fines announced for price speculators during Morazan Week

Speculators could face severe fines ranging from one to 10 thousand minimum wages.

The Director of Consumer Protection of the Secretariat of Economic Development, José Enrique Santos, warned this Wednesday that those businesses that do not respect the prices of products and services.

 Likewise, those who do not respect the provisions such as the corresponding discounts for the elderly and the elderly during Morazanic Week, could face severe fines ranging from one to 10 thousand minimum wages, he warned.

Santos explained that, as part of the control operations, several expired products have been confiscated, highlighting the importance of guaranteeing respect for consumer rights.

To facilitate reporting irregularities, Santos told citizens that they can call 115 or send a message via WhatsApp to 8883 1086.

“The operations began before Morazan Week and will continue throughout the celebration. Those who raise prices unjustifiably or who do not grant discounts will be severely punished,” he said.

So far, the official said that most businesses have respected the prices and granted the corresponding discounts, although he stressed that there are always those who try to take advantage. “We are vigilant and operations are carried out 24 hours a day,” he said.
