Footballer Exequiel Palacios’ ex-wife sells his World Cup winner’s medal amid bitter divorce
In the midst of their acrimonious divorce, Argentina international Exequiel Palacios’s estranged wife sold his World Cup mementos to settle the debt on their flat.
The midfielder was a member of Argentina’s World Cup-winning squad in Qatar. He currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen, owned by Xabi Alonso. He played three games when Lionel Messi won the nation’s first World Cup championship in over forty years.

This week, Palacios’ former girlfriend Yesica Frias disclosed that she had sold the shirt that the player wore during their 2022 World Cup victory over France.
The buyer also bought the winner’s medal for the Bayer Leverkusen star, but Frias withheld the amount she was paid for the merchandise.
Along with the match-worn shirt, she shared a photograph of herself and the buyer on Instagram. Later, she shared another photo of the man with the winner’s medal.

The 24-year-old’s claimed nonpayment of rent on their flat in Argentina left the model and influencer with no choice but to sell his mementos.
Frías told El Trece, an Argentine television station, “He doesn’t want to finish paying for the apartment because he didn’t know if it was going to be his or not.”
After meeting in 2018, the pair tied the knot three years later. After Frías said she didn’t feel supported by him, they split up in April 2023.
“I don’t hate Exequiel, I loved him a lot. But all the love for him that I had evaporated because he disappointed me as a person.”
Frías has now set her sights on selling all of the star’s football shirts to cover the alleged debt on their shared property.
“I want him to sign the divorce,” she said. “I only ask him for what belongs to me, not even the marital assets he has in Germany.”
