WHAT HAPPENED?

Per the Daily Mirror, Neville’s role with Sky Sports is evolving and, as a result, he has stepped back from his presenting duties on Monday Night Football, the show he has fronted with Jamie Carragher since 2015. The ex-Manchester United star actually joined the programme in 2011 but his partnership with Carragher became iconic; since mid-August, however, the Liverpool legend has taken over presenting duties, with Neville nowhere to be seen.

    WHAT NEVILLE SAID

Neville said on The Overlap US: “So tomorrow, I’m expected to do set-pieces, whereas with Sky, on Monday Night Football, there are some set pieces which I prepare for – but now I don’t do Monday Night Football anymore, I don’t do set-pieces any more.”

    THE GOSSIP

Neville is focusing on new projects in the United States, including The Overlap US and his appearances on NBC Sports, who also cover the Premier League. He will continue to appear on Sky’s other shows throughout the weekend, including Friday Night Football and Super Sunday, but will be used more sporadically on Mondays, and may even be called upon to do co-commentary, instead of appearing in the studio. Neville will also work with NBC regularly, even travelling to their New York studio, as part of a collaboration between the two networks.
