A Guatemalan citizen was arrested this Wednesday in the village of Las Delicias, municipality of Santa Fe, Ocotepeque, western Honduras. He was wanted by the authorities of his country accused of the crime of homicide.
The detainee, a 55-year-old man originally from the village of Granadilla, municipality of Esquipulas, Guatemala, had an arrest warrant issued on September 19, 2023 by the Judge of First Instance Criminal and Drug Trafficking on Duty of the department of Chiquimula.
The subject is accused of being responsible for the crime of homicide and was in Honduras illegally with the purpose of evading justice in his country.
Following his arrest by the Police Investigation Department (DPI) together with Interpol, the suspect was handed over to the Honduran immigration authorities at the Agua Caliente border crossing, where he was expelled.
Subsequently, the Guatemalan immigration authorities assumed responsibility for their transfer and handover to the Guatemalan National Civil Police.
