Former Manchester United and Spurs striker Berbatov was surprised that no other Premier League club went for Kane before he moved to Germany. Kane was linked with a move to Manchester City in 2021 after Sergio Aguero left the club, however, Tottenham did not approve his sale despite being offered £100 million (€119m). Meanwhile, former United boss Erik ten Hag was said to be keen on signing Kane last year, but the club decided against meeting Spurs’ valuation.
Speaking on talkPORT’s The LineUp, Berbatov said of how he reacted to Kane’s decision to leave Tottenham after 19 years at the club: “Harry Kane is a machine. I was crying that day [he left]. Well, not crying! But I was like ‘seriously?!’ ‘No other club in the Premier League wanted him to stay here?”
