In 2008, young Jordan Taylor was the victim of a serious car accident in which his “skull separated from his spine.”

Jordan Taylor, then a young boy, nearly died in a car accident in Texas (United States). The shock was so violent that it caused what is called “atlanto-occipital dislocation”, separating the skull from the spine. A generally fatal phenomenon. In the rare survivors, it leads, according to health professionals, to lifelong paralysis.

At the hospital, doctors were speechless as the boy, who despite the impact, was still breathing. Dr. Richard Roberts of Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth would later say, “He was the first patient with this injury that I had ever seen survive .  “

“The pediatric neurosurgeon responded by placing Jordan’s skull in a carbon fiber “halo” to stabilize his neck, then performing surgery,” details the media LINFO.re . Using screws and rods, Dr. Richard Roberts will attach a titanium plate to the back of Jordan Taylor’s skull.

Three months after the operation, the boy is talking and walking without any brain damage. His family can only burst with joy at such a rapid, almost miraculous recovery.
