The DNA found on Helena’s jersey supposedly matches the genetic profile of Santi Laiglesias , although the report does not indicate precisely that the samples are from him, so the case is still under investigation 23 years after the young woman’s murder.

Helena Jubany’s Wikipedia
Helena Jubany i Lorente was born on February 27, 1974, in Sabadell, Barcelona. She was murdered on December 2, 2001, after being thrown into the void of an interior courtyard. She was found naked and with several burns on her body.
Helena Jubany was a journalist, librarian and writer, linked to the cultural and social activity of the region. She began her professional career doing internships at El Punt del Maresme, at Televisión de Mataró and at the Robafaves bookstore in the capital of Maresme.
In 2000, she began working as a librarian at Senmanat, where she was in charge of the children’s section. As a result of this new job, she went to live alone in a flat in the Creu Alta neighbourhood of Sabadell. Since then, she began to collaborate with the Nature Section of the Unión Excursionista de Sabadell.
Alleged story of his murder
Helena left home on Friday, November 30 at 12 noon. According to the investigation, she received two phone calls, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. She left her house in her car and arrived at 48 Calvet d’Estrella Street, in Sabadell, at the apartment of two acquaintances of hers: Montse Careta, a teacher, and Santi Laiglesia, a criminal lawyer.
She was allegedly drugged, knocked unconscious and kidnapped. Later, while still alive, she was taken to the roof of the same building. According to reports, she was thrown from there between 3 and 5 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, with a dose of sleeping pills 35 times higher than normal.
However, the dose given to her was not enough to cause death. Helena died from defenestration (when a person is thrown out of a window) and impact with the ground. The autopsy confirmed that when she was thrown, Helena was in a semi-coma state.
A local resident found Helena’s body around 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 2. She was naked, with burns on her body and her head disfigured due to the impact of the fall, which made it impossible to initially recognize her.
Arrest of the alleged murderers
On 12 February 2002, Montserrat Careta was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crime. She was remanded in custody without bail in Wad-Ras prison in Barcelona. Two bottles of Noctamid, a psychotropic drug with hypnotic effects containing benzodiazepine, the same substance that had been found in the victim’s body, were found in her flat.
The National Police also found a box of matches like those found on the roof and which, supposedly, had been used to burn Helena. During his time in prison, Careta always maintained his innocence through the letters he sent to family and friends.
