Honduran man was driving a new taxi given to him by his mother and was murdered in SPS
Authorities are investigating the murder of a young taxi driver in the Rivera Hernández neighborhood. Here's what we know about the case.

A young taxi driver identified as Jorge Humberto Estrada Reyes , 23, was murdered on Tuesday night in the Rivera Hernández neighborhood of San Pedro Sula , Cortés, in the northern part of Honduras.
Estrada had recently started working with taxi number 0216, which had been purchased by his mother with the intention that Jorge could generate income to support his family.
However, the young man’s life plan was interrupted by the violent attack, the details of which have not yet been revealed.
National Police officers went to the scene to secure the crime and begin the investigation. So far, no arrests have been made and no motive has been determined.
Murders in Honduras
According to data from the Online Police Statistical System ( SEPOL ), 3,659 homicides were recorded in 2022, representing a rate of 38.1 per 100,000 inhabitants, a reduction compared to previous years.
By 2024, authorities project a homicide rate of 26.7 per 100,000 inhabitants, the lowest in the past decade. However, despite these advances, violence remains a significant concern in the country.
