How old was Edgar Vivar in El Chavo del 8? Mr. Barriga was one of the youngest

El Chavo del 8 , a Mexican show that crossed borders and broke all audience records of its time, is back on television, remembering all the adventures with his neighborhood friends.

The cast of this successful series was made up of Roberto Gomez Bolanos (El Chavo), Florinda Meza (Mrs. Florinda), Ramon Valdes (Don Ramon), Ruben Aguirre (Professor Jirafales), Angelines Fernandez (Mrs. Clotilde), Carlos Villagran (Quico), Maria Antonieta de las Nieves (La Chilindrina) and Edgar Vivar (Mr. Barriga).

The latter was one of the youngest on the show, however, due to the clothes he wore very few people noticed his real age, but when he played the character of Ñoño his youth was noticeable.

According to different portals and users, Vivar would have been 23 years old during the Chavo del 8 programs, however, taking into account the year of his birth he would be older.

The interpreter of Señor Barriga came into the world on December 28, 1948 and the first episode of El Chavo del 8 was broadcast on February 26, 1973, so his age that year was 25 years old.

As time went by, the Mexican actor gained experience, but above all his age increased and in 1980, the year the series ended, he was 32 years old and decided not to play Ñoño or Señor Barriga again.

Why did you stop playing Ñoño and Señor Barriga?

He made this decision to explore other dimensions of his acting career and his response was: ” It’s a personal decision, if there are people who pay him, then go ahead. The decision to continue being a child is a decision of each person, of respect .”

“I thought I could do different things, my talent was good for more,” he added. And since then he has worked on numerous projects in Europe and Argentina, seeking to distance himself from his comfort zone.

He has revealed that he has health-related problems, but has assured that his physical limitations do not affect his professional performance, thanks to the nobility of his profession, which allows him to play characters while maintaining his cognitive capacity intact.
