Ukrainian forces successfully thwarted a Russian offensive in the Donetsk region that involved armored vehicles.
The battle took place near Vyymka, on the outskirts of Bakhmut, where Ukraine’s 10th Mountain Assault Brigade was deployed against Russian forces.
The Russian attack, which involved 120 soldiers and 22 armored vehicles, was detected by aerial reconnaissance before being targeted by artillery and drones.
Videos from the assault, shared on social media, show Russian troops coming under heavy fire before retreating in response to a kamikaze drone strike.
According to Kyiv, Vladimir Putin may have lost 1,300 soldiers in a single day, while North Korea reportedly sent over 10,000 troops to Russia to support the Kremlin’s war efforts.
Ukraine also claims that Moscow has lost more than 700,000 soldiers since the start of the war in February 2022, though these figures have not been independently verified.
Despite these losses, the Russian military reportedly gained ground in the Donbas last week, as noted by Bloomberg.
