Ukraine has targeted an explosives manufacturer in Russia, as well as a storage warehouse at a military airfield in the Lipetsk region, according to a statement from the Ukrainian General Staff.

The manufacturer, one of the largest in the country, has been under sanctions from the United States and the European Union since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The Ukrainian General Staff announced on Telegram that the Sverdlov plant produces chemical components for artillery shells and aerial bombs. The extent of the damage is still unknown.

Kyiv also reported that a fire broke out at one of the Lipetsk airfields.

The number of casualties remains unclear, but the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region confirmed that four firefighters were lightly injured by shrapnel following a drone attack.
