Dr. Priya, a popular Indian TV star has reportedly died of a heart attack at just 35 years old while she was eight months pregnant.
The expectant mother passed on while she was in hospital for a routine checkup on October 31, and had suffered a ‘sudden’ cardiac arrest there.
Her newborn baby is currently in an ICU at a private hospital after doctors managed to save it, according to her co-star Kishor Satya, who she worked with on the drama Karuthamuthu.
He said of the passing of his co-star in an Instagram post: ‘Last night while going to the hospital, the sight of sadness rained in my mind.’
A doctor by trade, Dr. Priya was one of the most popular actors working in India. Local media reported she worked at the PRS hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, in the southern state of Kerala.
She reportedly took a break from work while she was pregnant to spend more time with her family.
