The Israeli army confirmed on Sunday the death of Hader Ali Tawiil, commander of the Kafr Kila company of the Shiite group Hezbollah , who was held responsible for firing “hundreds of shells and anti-tank missiles against communities in northern Israel.”

Ali Tawiil was killed in a bombing by the Israeli Air Force , although the army did not give further details on the matter, such as his location. However, the company commanded by the militant, Kafr Kila, corresponds to a town on the border with Israel.

Tawiil, along with militants Mohamed Hader and Hassan Ntiir, both also killed in Israeli attacks this week, participated in an attack with an anti-tank missile that killed a 76-year-old Israeli civilian, Mira Ayalon, and her son, reservist sergeant Barak Ayalon, in northern Israel.

The announcement brings the number of pro-Iranian group leaders killed by Israel in recent days to a new level, with military spokesman Daniel Hagari estimating the number at more than 30 during a video appearance yesterday.

In total, Hagari said the armed forces have killed some 440 fighters since launching their “limited” ground incursion into southern Lebanon , which has so far killed at least nine Israeli soldiers and seriously wounded one yesterday.

“We are pushing Hezbollah to the north. Some terrorists fled and others are being defeated by our troops in close combat,” the army spokesman said.

Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi also issued a statement last night insisting that the armed forces have to “continue to apply pressure on Hezbollah and do additional and continuous damage to the enemy, without concessions and without giving the organization any respite.”

During troop movements in southern Lebanon , soldiers from the 98th Division destroyed a tunnel of about 250 meters that was located about 300 meters from the border between Lebanon and Israel.

In this underground space, the soldiers found “control centers, combat equipment and a large number of weapons that Hezbollah’s Radwan forces – an elite corps – were going to use in an invasion of Israel.”

More than ten days ago, Israel launched an intense bombing campaign against Lebanon, especially in the south, the Bekaa Valley – east – and Beirut – in the southern suburbs, known as Dahye, but also in the center of the capital on two occasions.

Since this outbreak of hostilities began, more than 2,000 Lebanese have died and 1.2 million have been forced to move due to Israeli bombing. EFE
