Jadon Sancho’s Manchester United career is coming to an end after Juventus agreed a deal to sign the England international on an initial loan.
According to Fabrice Hawkins, Juventus have struck a deal for the 24-year-old, despite facing competition from Premier League giants Chelsea. After weeks of speculation linking Sancho to Turin on what was thought to be a straight loan, the deal is now said to include an obligation for the Serie A side to purchase the England international permanently next summer. The player is also said to be keen on the switch.
Chelsea’s failure to land the former Borussia Dortmund man likely came down to their difficulty in moving on Raheem Sterling. Head coach Enzo Maresca informed the 29-year-old that he would not be involved with the first team this season and while talks had been held with Man Utd over a swap deal between the two wingers, it appears Juventus’ quick work in sending Federico Chiesa to Liverpool has allowed them to snap up the unwanted Red Devil.
Since joining the club in 2021, Sancho has made 83 appearances for Man Utd. In that time, he only managed to record 18 goal contributions, with his best return being six goals in the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.
WHAT NEXT FOR SANCHO?
Nearly a year after his feud with manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho’s chapter at Old Trafford is finally set to end. The 23-cap international had been cast out by the Dutchman and sent away on loan to Germany for the 2023-24 season and will now get the chance to start a new chapter away from one of the world’s most scrutinised clubs.
