WHAT HAPPENED?
Jermaine Jenas was sacked by the BBC for ‘inappropriate behaviour’ towards two women at the corporation. Another woman has since come forward claiming the former Match of the Day analyst sent her unsolicited messages on WhatsApp while working together during the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Jenas, who is married with children, met the third woman while out in Doha, Qatar’s capital, and she was working as a party organiser. After the first encounter, the 41-year-old apparently continued to contact the woman about wanting to meet up at restaurants and invited her to a Calvin Harris concert. The 38-year-old lady didn’t agree to go to the events, and she would later receive an unsolicited photo of Jenas’ private parts. After the original claims were made, the presenter released an apology stating that his actions were “between two consenting adults” and that it was all legal.

WHAT THE WOMAN SAID
Jenas sent a series of flirtatious messages to the woman after meeting her, according to the Daily Mail. He wrote: “I keep thinking these are pics of u when they arrive. When it arrives I’m like.. oh nice finally I get to see this body”.
A few days later, the woman told Jenas that she and a friend were thinking of spending a day at the dessert. He replied: “Ok… I mean I do wanna see u in a bikini so feel free to put her off for a day… u can’t blame me.”
When the woman told the retired footballer that she ‘hated’ sending photos, Jenas said: “I know, but you know what it’s like when you’re away. Since I saw u it’s been on my mind, that’s all. I just like the tease.”
Jenas is alleged to have later told the woman he wanted to “Netflix and chill with u” and sent her a photo of him holding his private parts.
The 38-year-old woman said: “I was shocked, I felt violated. The whole time I’d replied to his messages because I felt I had to, it was my job to bring in clients, but always keeping my distance and I said I wouldn’t send him the photos he wanted. Apart from that, we were in Qatar, where sex outside marriage is illegal. What he wanted could have got us locked up for seven years. But he kept insisting. I thought, you are shameless. And I told him let’s talk about this. He couldn’t control himself and sent me a photo of his penis.
“I didn’t reply and he later sent a message saying ‘Didn’t you like it?’ I still didn’t reply and after a few more messages he blocked me. I was hoping never to hear about him again, but his sacking from the BBC just confirmed the type of person I thought he was. A liar, a traitor, who doesn’t respect his family and doesn’t respect women who make it clear they aren’t interested.”

JENAS DENIES CLAIM
A source close to Jenas has denied the claims, telling The Sun: “Jermaine completely denies these texts were unsolicited. They were between two consenting adults. “She handed Jermaine her number and was trying to arrange to meet him, whilst desperate for him to bring his VIP mates to her parties. Funny now more than two years on the texts were not wanted.”

WHAT NEXT FOR JENAS?
Jenas has expressed his sincere apology to the people affected, and the BBC reaffirmed that he would no longer be part of the presenting line-up. The legal process is still ongoing between Jenas and the two women’s representatives. Meanwhile, the source told The Sun that he is working hard to rebuild his marriage.
