    WHAT HAPPENED?

The former England international has not lifted major silverware since his days at Old Trafford. Lingard’s last success came in 2017, when helping a Red Devils side managed by Jose Mourinho to Europa League glory – having also won the Community Shield and League Cup that season.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lingard bid farewell to Manchester when leaving as a free agent in 2022, with the decision taken to link up with Nottingham Forest. Just one season was spent at the City Ground, with more fitness struggles holding the charismatic playmaker back.

    • DID YOU KNOW?

After several months without a club, the 31-year-old made his way to South Korea in February 2024. Lingard has taken the captain’s armband at FC Seoul and has delivered a flurry of goals and assists of late. His latest goal contribution came in a 1-0 win over Suwon FC that has helped to keep K League title dreams alive.

    • WHAT NEXT FOR LINGARD?

Lingard has posted on Instagram: “This team. Big big win today proud of the lads. 6 finals to go.” FC Seoul sit fifth in the K League, but are only eight points adrift of top spot. Lingard will be giving his all as part of collective efforts to close that gap.
