The recent approval for the Secretary of Defense and presidential candidate of the Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre), Rixi Moncada, to make direct purchases has generated debate about the use of public resources.
José Luis Moncada, leader of the Liberal Party, expressed his concerns in an interview in the last few hours, pointing out that this decision could lead to a lack of transparency in the management of funds.
‘What assurance do we have that the resources that Rixi Moncada will manage will not be for the campaign?’ he asked.
President Xiomara Castro authorized Rixi Moncada to make direct contracts through Executive Agreement 190-2024, which is valid for one year from its publication in the official newspaper La Gaceta.
This agreement allows Moncada to execute the “Plan for a Solution to Crime,” which has raised questions about the conditions under which these purchases will be made, especially given her status as a presidential candidate.
José Luis Moncada commented that the lack of a transparent process in direct purchases and the absence of adequate settlements fuel speculation about the destination of these funds, raising doubts about the integrity of the process.

The opposition and various social sectors have begun to demand greater scrutiny of the decisions made by the authorities, arguing that the fight against corruption and the responsible use of funds are essential to regain the confidence of the Honduran people in their institutions and should not be politicized.
