Kamala Harris’s career
Kamala Harris’ career began between 1990 and 1998, when she served as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California. In 1998, she was appointed managing prosecutor of the Career Criminal Unit in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, where she began to stand out for her commitment to justice. Between 2004 and 2011, she served as District Attorney of San Francisco, consolidating her reputation in the legal field.
In 2009, Harris published her first book titled Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer . She then served as California’s attorney general from 2011 to 2016, where she worked on various legal reforms. During her 2019 presidential campaign, Harris cut staff and spending to focus on Iowa, closing offices in other key states.
