When asked about the league he prefers, Arteta said: “I go for the Premier League. I think it’s the best league in the world for sure. And the way the league has evolved in the last two or three years, for me, there is no question about that.”
On the differences between the two leagues, the former Everton midfielder added: “Many. The way of living, that is very important. Then the speed and physicality are very, very different. The England one is much quicker, much more physical, the Spanish one is more technical. I would say especially the difference is the competition. Any game here [in England] is a battle.”
When asked which players could follow him into management, Arteta said: “There will be a lot. There were a few at City already that I think are going to be top managers. There are a few here [at Arsenal] that I think in a few years they’re going to be [managers]. I prefer not to say the names to not put pressure on them but there’s going to be a few.”
Arteta’s reputation as a coach continues to grow, with the Arsenal boss undoubtedly one of the top young managers in Europe at this time. He has turned the north London outfit into genuine Premier League title challengers, while they have made significant progress in the Champions League in the 2023-24 season and find themselves in the quarter-final. Indeed, if he wins one of those trophies while in charge of the Gunners, he’ll secure his place in the club’s history.
