The vicar of the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Miguel Arcángel, Simón Fu , highlighted the importance of reconciliation in a people that has been fragmented and divided, during this Sunday’s homily in Tegucigalpa.

“There is a new possibility for the people of God to become one again,” he said, emphasizing the call to marginalized people such as the disabled, who have historically been excluded from religious life.

Fu explained how these figures represent those who, according to the Old Testament mentality, were considered unproductive and therefore ignored.

“The prophet invites them first, so that they can experience and live the fatherhood of God,” he stressed.

In the Gospel account, the vicar emphasized the story of a blind man who, upon hearing Jesus’ call, broke with the negative perception of his condition.

“Jesus did not ignore him; on the contrary, he called him and gave him back his sight,” he explained, stressing that this miracle goes beyond physical recovery.

The transformation of the blind man symbolizes a new active faith, full of love and hope, which invites everyone to follow the Master and build the kingdom of God.

“The Church is also celebrating today and is asking us to wake up and get out of this blindness,” Fu said, urging those present not to fear the necessary changes in the community.

“Let us not be afraid of the changes that may occur in societies and in the world within the Church itself,” he added.

The priest concluded his message by urging everyone to a close priesthood, one that lives and experiences the crises of society.
