Liam Payne died in a hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the age of 31 and since the news began to circulate on social media, a sea of information has emerged, some of it misleading.
Upon learning that the former member of One Direction had died after falling from the third floor, videos of his alleged fall began to circulate on digital platforms, which users took as true.
On Twitter, now known as X, a clip of a man falling out of a window has become popular and has been spread by people who believe that the person shown is Liam Payne, which is incorrect.
The post has been shared more than 6,000 times, but it actually happened in Mexico City in September of last year. It is about a person who was trying to save himself from a fire and desperately jumped into the void.
” The Rescue and Medical Emergency Squad (ERUM) treated the injured man and rushed him to the Balbuena General Hospital ,” the newspaper El Excélsior reported at the time.
A video has also been circulating that was supposedly taken from the day before Liam Payne ‘s death , in which the artist is seen signing an autograph for a fan while singing in Spanish and English. The post has been shared more than 8,000 times.
” The video was recorded on September 30th at the Hilton Hotel, three days before Niall’s (Liam’s former One Direction bandmate) show in Argentina ,” the fan confirmed.
How did Liam Payne die?
According to the study by the specialists who conducted the investigation, Payne died from ‘multiple trauma’ that caused ‘internal and external hemorrhage’, with 25 injuries found on his body, none of them defensive in nature and all compatible with the ten-meter fall he suffered from the hotel balcony.
A toxicological and anatomopathological study of the blood, urine and viscera was also ordered to find traces of drugs, among other factors, and a nasal swab of the body was also required.
For now, the main hypothesis is that of a possible suicide, the result of an outbreak of substance use, according to the file in charge of the 16th Prosecutor’s Office, temporarily in charge of Marcelo Roma.
According to the statement on the official website of the Attorney General’s Office: “The Attorney General’s Office indicated that, due to the position in which the body was left and the injuries from the fall, it is presumed that Payne did not adopt a reflex posture to protect himself and that he could have fallen into a state of semi or total inconsistency.”
