Chicago, IL –
Lil Durk has delayed his Deep Thoughts album, but softened the blow for his fans by announcing a huge birthday show in Chicago.
The Windy City mainstay was set to release his new album on Friday (October 18), but the project’s release date has been bumped to November 22 on Apple Music.
Smurk explained the delay on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday (October 15), writing: “I’m getting connected with the fans I want yall to feel this energy and how I’m going back to the basics I can’t rush it on some industry shit I got us trust meeeeeeeeee.”
Despite the bad news, he still took to Instagram to share details for a massive show at the United Center in his hometown later this month.
The concert is set for October 20 and is billed as “Lil Durk… And Friends.” The video announcement features teases of other artists, as outlined figures come and go with big question marks over their chests.
Durk captioned the post: “Get your tickets now unitedcenter.com October 20th we in the raqqqqqqqq [fire emojis] come on.”

While Durk is firmly in album mode, he’s taken time away from the studio to support those in need.
Last week, he was doing his part for the community by offering to help out victims of Hurricane Milton, which ripped through parts of Florida.
Posting on his Instagram Stories, the Chicago rapper offered support to anybody in Florida that was affected by the devastating storm.
He wrote: “Me and my team @neighborhoodheroesfoundation want to put focus on the tragic situation in the Florida areas we want to be ahead of everything and we planning to get water and food together for the aftermath of the hurricane inshallah. We will keep everybody in our Dua.”
In other Durk news, it was earlier in October that he announced Deep Thoughts.
The Chicago rapper made the surprise announcement, revealing the project’s title, initial release date and cover art on Instagram.
“Deep thoughts 10/18 for the people for the trenches smurk back [star and crescent emoji],” he wrote alongside the artwork, which depicts Durk floating above the ocean underneath the glow of the moon.
His announcement was accompanied by an early preview of the album, with the OTF founder dropping a new single titled “Monitoring Me.”
Featuring ominous, piano-laced production from Southside, the track finds Smurk asserting his authority over his opps with lines like: “He said something in public, I got in his DMs and made him apologize.”
