Lil Nas X Called Out For ‘Dreamboy’ Art Borrowing: ‘Not Even Trying To Put A Spin On It’

Lil Nas X‘s visuals for his upcoming project Dreamboy are drawing negative attention from one of his inspirations, who has claimed that the rapper copied his art without even “put[ting] a spin on it.”
On Wednesday (November 13) the rapper shared a message on X to promote Dreamboy. The art that went along with the message showed him at a desktop computer in a wood-paneled room, with a figure bathed in white light behind him.
On his Instagram story, Nas X shared what he called a “reference” for the image: the cover art for Sega Bodega’s 2021 track “Angel on my Shoulder,” which also features a man in a desktop computer, in a wood-paneled room, in front of a figure bathed in white light.

Sega responded critically on his X account.
“Not even trying to put a spin on it is where I’m like yeesh,” he wrote.
Sega then responded to someone who said that he was “ungrateful,” presumably because Nas X had mentioned Sega’s cover on his IG story.
“Can’t tell if this is a very good joke or not cause that’s literally what he did ahahah there is no credit,” Sega responded. “‘Look he did credit you in a photo that will disappear in 24 hours forever and no name whatsoever of artist or photographer! Be grateful! You lot sound insane.”
So far, Nas X has not responded to Sega’s posts. However, he did recently hit back at another critic, Azealia Banks.
Late last month, Banks commented about Nas X on her X account, saying that he “fell off so hard” and “has NO BARS.”
Shortly afterwards, the “Old Town Road” rapper responded in a now-deleted message.
“[A]zealia I could never make a hit song again and you would still never in your bussy soap selling chicken sacrificing botched body hating ass miserable life ever reach a 10th of my success,” he wrote.
“Love your music btw.”
