Lil Uzi Vert was missing one member of Big Time Rush on his new song “The Rush,” a collaboration that featured Uzi with every member of the group except for Carlos PenaVega — and now fans know why.
The singer’s wife Alexa PenaVega posted on X to explainer her husband’s absence from the Eternal Atake 2 cut.
“We work super hard to protect our values and the things we believe in especially when it comes to creating content that is mostly family friendly or what one would consider ‘safe’,” she wrote.
She said that Carlos “kindly passed” on appearing on Uzi’s song “because it did not align with his values.”
“Unfortunately it was not credited properly and is currently being represented as a BTR feature,” she continued. “Not a Kendall [Schmidt], Logan [Henderson] and James [Maslow] feature.
“As a wife who has watched Carlos navigate his values alone in an industry not set up for ‘family’ I have been at times both incredibly proud and totally heartbroken for him. This is not putting anyone down. We just respectfully would like to make the people who follow us aware of the mishap and address that this was something he was not a part of.”
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Uzi said that Big Time Rush were “only people I called” to appear on his new album Eternal Atake 2. They said it was “amazing” to have the group appear on the project.
“I made a song kind of dedicated to them, and I was like, ‘I wonder if they could say something cool in the beginning, they might harmonize on it and all that,’” they explained. “I didn’t even really think they knew me.”
Someone who was happy about Eternal Atake 2 was Uzi’s partner JT.
On Friday (November 1), the day the project arrived, the former City Girl took to Instagram to share a carousel of herself and Uzi dressed in all white in a tropical locale and on the flight that presumably took them there.
She captioned the post: “So proud of you always! [three white heart emojis] My top 3 is light year, pears to mars & Mr.chow honorable mention chill bae! Really the whole thing but that’s being bias because you do no wrong in my eyes! Forever your #1 fan! Paint the world white my baby, congratulations on EA2.”
The City Cinderella rapper also included the Eternal Atake 2 cover art in her post.
