Liverpool coach Arne Slot has issued a clear message on Luis Diaz’s future following reports of a potential transfer to Barcelona or Manchester City.
Barcelona have long been credited with an interest in signing the Colombia international from the Anfield club, while a sensational report this week claimed that City had already come to an agreement with him over a five-year contract.
The 27-year-old is contracted to the Anfield team until 2027, however, and remains a key figure at the club as they prepare to get the new season underway under new coach Slot, and the Dutch coach insists Diaz is going nowhere.
“When I walked in, the whole day is about talking about football,” he said at a press conference. “It’s no surprise I hear speculation about Diaz. Is there anyone we don’t talk about? His future is with us. I like a lot of what I saw. He has had a big impact on Liverpool and I hope he has one for the coming season.”
The former Porto star will likely be involved when the Reds kick off the new Premier League campaign with a match against Ipswich on Saturday. A week later, they will face Brentford in their first home game of the season.
