London Police Detain Nigerian Man, Abimbola Over Alleged Inappropriate Chats With Minor

Abimbola David, a 43-year-old Nigerian man, has been detained by the London police over allegations of inappropriate online communication with a minor.

He allegedly made inappropriate requests to a 14-year-old girl through an online platform. The girl, who reported him with evidence, triggered his arrest.

Abimbola, however, denied knowing the girl’s age and was reportedly shocked to discover her presence on the platform.

The case remains under investigation, with authorities considering possible charges.

According to the organisation, Saving Our Children’s Futures, Abimbola, who is married with two children and residing in the UK on a student visa, allegedly engaged in online interactions with the minor and made inappropriate requests.

During questioning, Abimbola claimed he was unaware of the girl’s age and expressed shock that she was on the platform. He asserted that he was simply using the app to pass the time and denied any malicious intent.

He said in the clip during an interrogation with authorities, “I met her on a dating app, I was surprised I could meet a little girl on the app. I was just there just to calm myself when I’m bored.

“I asked her (for those images) for her to stop chatting with me, I wanted to be sure if she was a child or not that was why I asked her. I don’t deal with minors. If she had sent me those pictures, I will delete them.

“I said all those things for fun, I have a wife and I have two kids, I don’t do it.”

When asked if he knew he was abusing the child with the messages he was sending her, he defended himself by saying, “If I want to abuse a child, I will send her my home address; I have never done that in my life.” I was just saying all this for nothing.”

On the subject of age, he stated, “I am 43; I told her I was 24.”

They lied about their ages on a dating app. “She stated on the dating app that she was 18, as they will not allow you to use the app unless you are 18 or older.”

When confronted with the fact that the girl told her true age rather than the age listed on the dating app, he said, “I did not believe her; I thought it was just for fun.”
