A 23-year-old woman was shot dead by a hitman hired by her own boyfriend who was angry with her because she refused to give him money. The brutal crime occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 22, in the Belén neighborhood, Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, Colombia.
Young Angie Daniela Maldonado, 23, mother of a three-year-old girl, was celebrating a family member’s 15th birthday with friends and relatives. After a few hours, her boyfriend, José Luis, arrived at the place and asked his girlfriend to make a bank transfer.
Although the young woman tried to send the money, a failure in the platform prevented it, which unleashed Ovallos’ anger.
The situation quickly escalated. Despite Angie’s attempts to calm him down and send a smaller amount, tensions increased. José Luis argued with the young woman’s family, was insulted by Angie’s sister and threatened to kill her before leaving the party.
Witnesses say that minutes later, José Luis returned accompanied by a hitman known as alias Duván. They both arrived on a motorcycle, and while Ovallos was taking Angie Daniela’s cell phone, alias Duván shot him twice, causing fatal injuries.
Despite being taken to a hospital, the young woman did not survive due to the severity of her injuries. Authorities are looking for José Luis and the hitman, who fled the scene. The victim’s family regretted that the crime occurred just two blocks from a police station.
